Hula is the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people...

Hele mai! E Hele Mai ,'oe!

I am making the call, the call to all hula dancers, professional and beginner, old, young, and somewhere in between. Ke Uhane o Ka Hula means "the soul of the dance," and for a long time I thought that it would not ring correctly in my ears. Then one day, I figured out that hula is but the vehicle through which I will enlarge my territory and yell out to the masses without saying a word.

Currently, we are seeking a new home for our halau. Our is not the same kind of halau that many people are used to going to. I am married to the thought that if Hawaiians and Hula are responsible for dually passing down our heritage to younger generations while also showing the masses of Hawaiians and Hawaiians-at-Heart who we are and what we truly respresent, then I can only mirror the teachings from my childhood and pass on to the world that our message is not of being the best, of winning trophies, of recognition only for our dance. Those things are really nice, but those things are not the only things there are in hula. We are taught the Universal lesson that of all in this Universe, the greatest thing of all is Love. Love is the thing that makes us all want to be together for cause and for unity.

Ke Uhane O Ka Hula is one of those groups of people who come together to do something not only for fun, but also for cause. We do not only dance, we also march to the beat of our own heartbeats. We do not compete. Instead, we do things in the communities in which we live and work so as to foster growth, harmony and most importantly, Love. For indeed, the very greatest of these is Love.

If you would like to help me find a home in which we can come together two evenings weekly, or perhaps are curious as to know how much we charge for our classes, please inquire via email, and leave your name, phone number and best time to call you back. Please remember that cost of rent must be at a minimum, and we are looking for an area that is not too dangerous.

My concept for this halau is radical,  but is one that has been a long time coming...and it is about time. We are "alternative" friendly.

Please inquire via email about days and class times, and class pricing. Mahalo...

For hula lessons your area, please go to www.mele.com and click on "Hula Schools". Click on the "CA" button, and then on the Southern California button.

I love hula, and it is this love for this dance that reaches far back into my ancestral history that makes it imperative that the dance go on.
Aloha e
